    • RESEARCH

      The Way of Enki

EN.KI is a historical figure that is not commonly known. A lot of his stories can be found in Sumerian tablets in cuneiform script. Many historians have read and researched these tablets, written books, and given speeches regarding the content. After reading a couple of books by Zecharia Sitchin, we were inspired to put together a soundscape and video inspired by the person known as EN.KI.

According to the ancient tablets, Enki (or also known as EA, and represents Aquarius) and another 'god' Ninurta, were responsible

for creating modern man. Enki is also responsible for saving mankind, or the Noah character from the flood. Enki is an inspirational figure because he represents a slight 'rebellious' spirit that went against the word of equal and higher 'gods'. His passion for his own creation led him to save the human race and change the course of history.

As creators, we develop the same passion for the art and music we create. This passion can lead to hating our creations, even

destroying them... as Enki had unanimously decided with his fellow beings. But that hate can easily lead into loving sentimentality, remembering how it felt creating something new and original. This is the general inspiration drawn from what we know so far about EN.KI

      Guide to symbolism in video:

Paint Brushes represent Enki and the other gods.

Top Of The Screen represents space, or 'heaven'.

Bottom of the Screen represents earth.

Burning Incense represents the flowing creative process.

Moving Water represents Aquarius, and/or Enki's presence.

Walking People represents creating modern man.

Duck represents The Way Birds Are.

Sun Flare represents the task or idea to create humanity.

      Guide to symbolism in audio:

Breathing represents the 'breath of life' held by Enki and given to an 'Adam'.

Forward & Reverse identical melodies represent time not existing in the moment of creation.

Low Pass Filter represents the feeling of rising from underneath water, surfacing for clarity, then submerging again. Symbolizing once again, Aquarius

      Interesting Moments in video:

A human notices the paint brush that represents Enki, the 'creative flow' follows him.

The paintbrush symbolizing Enki sticks around the entire video.

After the initial creation of man, the flood occurs, flowing over the mountain.

      Melodic Mind

A boy sits at a piano listening to the notes and how they vibrate with the accompaniment. Gradually, a simple melody forms and he can’t help but keep repeating it.

Repeating melodies are  a passion of mine, jam bands that let a melody fill the room for several minutes have  inspired a lot of my band’s compositions. I love having patience in letting the listener slowly figure out and reveal the layers and melodic patterns in their mind.

Patterns overlaying in multiple time signatures… when done right, is one of my favorite composition techniques.
